Hey Ignacio, could you share a little bit about yourself? how your online journey has started?

I was looking for a way to be more productive in managing my college activities & that’s when I came across notion for the first time. I quickly got super engaged with the notion community. I started offering notion consultation, but seeing the potential of notion templates, I quickly started building notion templates & selling them on Gumroad.

Most of the products you launched on Product Hunt are Notion related. Why build Notion-specific products?

I love using Notion and I’m good at creating Notion templates.

Also, I see Notion as a start for creating bigger systems. I start building my ideas with something as simple as Google sheets or a Notion template. Then, I will use a bubble or any other no-code app and take it to the next stage. The idea is to ship faster and validate faster.

You’ve launched both resource lists and Notion templates, which of them performed better on Product Hunt?

I would say resource lists. But it was a bit close, as resource lists and Notion templates are trending on Product Hunt right now.

Most of your Notion templates fall in the productivity niche, why is that?

The productivity niche is a hot topic right now. The way we work is changing with productivity apps. Also, I find it fascinating what’s coming in the productivity space like web 3, game trackers etc.

What are the hacks to rank productivity tools to rank on top of PH?

Yeah, these are the couple of strategies I follow

1. I will promote it on my email list, I will get decent open & click rates
2. Then, I’ve got 15-20 communities to post the launch message, and
3. I Optimize the GIF, Tagline, Thumbnail and First comment.
   
   

Most of your info products are free. Are you just building an email list of customers that you can sell to or you have any other goal?

My main goal is to build an email list because that’s the only thing I actually own. Also, These products are elements of bigger things that will be monetised later. So, yeah I’m not focused on revenue right now. Also, I get a lot of donations from my customers.

How Are you monetizing your list?

I run a weekly newsletter in which I affiliate digital products. I also offer Product Hunt gigs & I plan to launch consulting & paid products in the future.

So what are the strategies and sources to get upvotes when you don’t have any Twitter followers or email list?

I used to research the top products on Product Hunt every day for almost a month. And also I’ve found communities that talk about Notion in Reddit & FB groups.

I started sharing my knowledge over there and announced my product launch after some days. I also shared the copy, thumbnails, and images in these groups to create a buzz in the communities.

So yeah, my strategy is to do some research, find communities, share your process and build an email list. Also, study ProductHunt closely.

What are your top traffic sources for PH launches

1. Social Media:

   3. Linkedin Communities
   4. Slack and
   5. Discord

I automate most of the content distribution. I first schedule messages on social media. And I integrate Telegram and Slack messages.

What are your launch secrets?

1. Have a quality product
2. Optimize Your Product’s GIF, Tagline, Thumbnail, and First comment
3. Be pessimistic on the launch day. It’s a race, as you’re competing with lots of products. Reach out to people through DMs, and Promote on all social platforms.
   
   

What are the tools you use for PH launch?

1. Notion for planning
2. Figma & Photoshop for images
3. Postly to schedule messages
4. Make for integrating Telegram & Slack messages

You made around $2,500 from selling Notion Templates. How much of them did you make from Product Hunt? And how much sales from PH?

That money is from 5 income streams, consulting, affiliates, and other businesses. However, I got around 25-30% of $2,500 and 6000 downloads from PH launches.

What is the advice you will give to beginners who are launching on Product Hunt?

1. Get a decent number of upvotes in the first few hours
2. Put a lot of hours into building the product. if it’s your first product, build the best
3. Don’t get discouraged if you fail
   
   

What are the mistakes one should avoid while launching on Product Hunt?

1. Avoid launching too fast. Do your research on Product Hunt.
2. Try to check all your links. Don’t have broken links
